Your Task

The purpose of this assessment is to reinforce the six values that constitute the Australian Computer Society’s (ACS) code of ethics. The structure of the assessment, however, is designed to also provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

Assessment Description

Week 6’s class will be dedicated entirely to this assessment. You will be placed into a group of five and given two contentious topics on which you will deliver a presentation. The topics will be sourced entirely from the ACS code of ethics and may include, for example, the following:

•    It is only necessary to disclose a conflict of interest if there is a risk of damage to the public.

•    It is impossible to completely disassociate personal opinions from professional advice.

•    It is okay to claim you’ve completed an IT qualification so long as you’re past the halfway mark.

This assessment aims to achieve the following subject learning outcomes:

LO2

Explain the mitigation of risks associated with ethical, societal, legal, and privacy-related IT issues.

LO3

Demonstrate as a team member the attributes and practices that contribute to effective and efficient IT teams.

LO4

Communicate IT-related concepts, problems, solutions, and outcomes to diverse stakeholders via the use of various communication methods.

Assessment Instructions

You will be given 30 minutes to craft your arguments and identify the sequence of speakers.

•    Each team member must equally present for two minutes.

•    The assessment will conclude with an in-class self-reflection that will necessitate a 100-word description of your experiences as a team member.
