Assessment Task
This assessment task requires you to write a 1,500 word (+/-10%) analytic reflection in response to a set question.
The question you need to respond to is:
What is the biggest challenge facing digital communication practitioners today?
There is no right or wrong answer to this question. Rather, you are expected to make a compelling case for what challenge you see as being the most significant.
You are required to respond to this in two ways:
● By reflecting on issues discussed in the class presentations (given by other groups) on Day 10 of the course.
○ This component should focus on drawing out shared themes from the presentations given by your peers as part of Assessment 2.
● By analysing the same key issue, drawing on resources, concepts, ideas and readings featured in the course.
○ This component should explicitly engage with academic publications to substantiate all conceptual, theoretical, and empirical claims.
Requirements
1. A response that is 1,500 words (+/-10%) in length, with a clear identification of the challenge being considered.
2. A reflection component featuring ideas and arguments from 2 of the group presentations givennDay10.
3. An analysis component that uses academic concepts and sources to support your claims about the challenge.
4. Formatting and referencing:
● Cover page, including:
○ Your name and student number;
○ Your tutorial class time and tutor's name.
● Standard formatting attributes, including:
○ A standard typeface (e.g. Aptos, Calibri, Times New Roman, Arial);
○ 11pt or 12pt font size for the body text;
○ A logical and clear sub-heading format (if you choose to use sub-headings);
○ Left-aligned (or justified) text;
○ Standard margins (e.g., 2.54cm all sides - standard in MS Word).
● Referencing:
○ In-text citations (in APA 7 style), included in the word count.
○ A reference list (in APA 7 style), not included in the word count.
■ Reference lists can vary significantly in length, which is why we do not include them in the word count.
5. Statement of authorhi - not included in the ord count.
● If you use Al tools to assist you in writing your analytic reflection, you must be able to show that your ideas and thought processes are your own, and all use of Al tools and their outputs should be appropriately acknowledged and referenced.
Assessment purpose
This assessment is a longer form. writing task with two halves: the first allows you to reflect on your learning experience and active listening skills during the course. The second is a space for you to show your analysis skills, and ability to persuade the reader of a particular position based on an evidence-based argument.
Such tasks are common practice, and require you to utilise skills in research, reading, critical thinking, and writing that are highly valued in the workplace.
Furthermore, this task emphasises the importance of academic integrity and attention to detail that are essential for digital communication professionals to practice ethically and effectively.
You will be assessed on the following criteria:
1. Required components (10%)
2. Research & Evidence (30%)
3. Argument & Understanding (30%)
4. Writing and communication (20%)
5. Use of sources (10%)
