Finals Exam Guidelines

Two Parts

· Part 1 - Quiz (Lectures, Case Studies and Lab concepts)   TBD

· Part 2 - Lab (Use Case, Python)      50 min

· All course material is open and can be accessed in Digital or Printed format for both the Theory and the Lab part. 

· Finals are on the Finals date indicated on the Syllabus. If there are any other dates posted on Peoplesoft disregard them. If you are sick and unable to take them on the date specified, contact me ASAP before the exam.

· Both Days of the Finals would be administered in class in-person on the date specified in the Syllabus.

· A name tent identification is required to be placed in front of each student in class to validate identity during the Exam. Name tents were delivered at the start of the semester.

· If you have lost your name tent, you can write your name on a blank name tent with a black marker so that it is visible.

· It is not the Instructor’s responsibility to arrange for an alternate arrangement for a lost name tent

· There will be a 10% deduction if there is not a displayed Name tent during the Exam

· Part 1 - There will be a 50 min timer set for the exam followed by a second 5 min end-timer. The purpose of the end timer is to let you assemble and upload your solution.

· Part 1 - Any submission after the 2^nd timer will be marked late and lose 10% points for inequitable extra time advantage compared to the rest of the class. Exception to this is any approved additional time by the instructor due to technical difficulties reported as they occurred.

· Part 2 - Online Quiz will be auto-timed by Canvas

· Finals are not cumulative. Only material after Midterm is in scope. However, as is evident from the Case Study discussion, it covers concepts covered throughout the course. All material from case study is in scope irrespective of when the original concept was covered in class.

· There is part marking for the Lab. So do not get stuck on one part. Move on and make sure you complete all parts.

o If you failed to import the Excel file into Python, but you completed a related query, you will get credits for your query even though the execution will not produce any output.

· If you face any technical issue during the exam, let me know as soon as it happens. If you let me know at the end of the exam that you had an issue long before, I would not be able to provide any accommodations.

· There is no makeup Exam for the finals. If for any reason you are unable to take the finals on the date specified in the syllabus, I need to be notified at least 3 days prior to the exam date so that an alternate date can be agreed upon and approved. Failing this 3-day pre-approval, missing the finals will result in loss of all the points allocated to the exam.

· If you have DRS, please contact me ASAP via email to determine the logistics for the finals. To avail of DRS extensions, it is the responsibility of the student to reach out to the instructor to arrange for the logistics. All DRS arrangements need to be finalized at least 3 working days before the date of the exam to arrange for the required logistics. Email me ahead of the 3 days margin so that the logistics are finalized by that cutoff, failing which it would not be logistically possible to provide the DRS accommodations.
