Core Task Requirements

All core task requirements must be fulfilled. Failure to fulfill any of the core task requirements will

result in a points deduction from the EAP105 Project grade. You may fail if your report does not meet all the core task requirements.

You must:

•    Make a business proposal and evaluate it using one (1) of the three (3) business analysis models studied in semester 2 (PESTEL, SWOT, or Porter's Five Forces);

•    Include all relevant sections: Executive Summary, Background/Introduction, Business Proposal, Analysis, Recommendations, Conclusion, and the Reference List.

•    Include a minimum of six (6) sources published in English, at least four (4) of which must be academic*;

Assessment Details

•   Write 1,300 words (+/-10%, excluding Title, Executive Summary, reference list and appendices);

•   Support your writing with evidence by citing and referencing appropriately using the XJTLU Harvard Referencing System.

•   Assessment Type: Individual

•    Learning Outcomes assessed: B, D, E

•    Percentage of Module Mark: 20%

•   Where to submit: Upload to the designated Dropbox on the EAP105 Learning Mall (LMO) Page (submission in the wrong drop box will receive a score of 0)

•   Academic Integrity Offence: Submission of previously submitted work by yourself or others results in a ‘0’ and an Academic Integrity C, D or E penalty.

•     Submissions cannot be changed once the deadline has passed. It is a student’s responsibility to check the correct file is submitted and that it can be opened.

Assessment Timeline

Semester 1, 2024

In semester 1 you submitted a Business Proposal which forms the first part of this Business Evaluation Report.

Semester 2, 2025

Week 5: First Draft submission deadline (Friday, 21st March, 20:00 pm)

Week 9: Tutorials on first draft (schedule TBC)

Week 10: Final Draft submission deadline (Monday, 21st April, 09:00 am)

Marking and Feedback

•   The final draft will be assessed based on the marking descriptor at the end of this task sheet.

•    Feedback will be provided in line with university regulations (Policy links available in XJTLU UG Handbook p.68).

Assignments must all be individual pieces of work.

Plagiarism

•    Plagiarism (copying directly from the source without proper citation), collusion (working with

others or copying directly from your peer when you are required to work individually) and any     other instances of academic dishonesty will be penalised. Penalties range from capped scores to an award of 0 (zero). In the case of plagiarism penalties depend on how much is copied

Lateness

•   Work submitted after the deadline will receive a penalty of 5% for each day late, up to a maximum of 5 working days.
