Question
A wire made of copper (Cu) (diameter=0.209 cm) undergoes different conditions as shown in Figure 1. The unloaded length of the Cu wire at 25 °C (initial state) is 1.5 m. At State A, the temperature increases to 400 °C. At state B, the wire is loaded with a solid cube made of copper while the temperature is 400 °C. Finally, at State C, the copper cube is first removed, and then the temperature returns to the initial temperature (25 °C). Using the information provided in Table 1 and Figure 2,
a) Calculate the length of the wire at State A (LA). [20 Marks]
b) Calculate the length of the wire at State B (LB). [40 Marks]
c) Calculate the length of the wire at State C (LC). [40 Marks]
