Instructions: Final Report (Marketing Simulation)
The Final Report (10%) is 5-8 pages long (12-point font, single-spaced; excluding the cover page, appendices, and group ethics statement). Use APA6 for citations and references. You can include a limited number of tables/graphs in the body of the report. The report describes your overall experience with the game throughout the 6 turns and relates to youroverall learning and strategical/tactical marketing decisions and planning process. Please refer to the grading rubric to make sure you are including all the relevant components of the report with the necessary justification/analysis. Please download and use the template on Brightspace. The final report includes the following sections/components:
1. Overall Outcome
2. Turn Analysis Overview
3. Target Market
4. Marketing Mix
5. Competitive Analysis
6. Lessons Learned
1. Overall Outcome
Includes high-level but all-inclusive performance and results summary (Units Sold, Revenue, Profit, Market Share, Customer Satisfaction, Return on Marketing), and tables/graphs showing the team’s performance relative to competitors, highlighting key performance changes.
· Include a brief summary of your overall performance rather than a discussion of all your turn decisions or turn-by-turn performance. Discuss your overall results as measured by the leaderboard and other performance metrics.
· Refer to your original performance objectives developed in your initial Strategic Marketing Plan Report.
· Highlight key changes in your performance and specify what you attribute these changes to.
2. Turn Analysis Overview
Shows the analysis, justification, and context of key decisions made in the 6 turns, impactful choices, rationale behind decision-making and desired vs. real outcomes, and main strategies and tactics with their reasons/motives and outcomes.
· Summarize major turn decisions while paying particular attention to changes in your strategies and tactics andhighlighting what you did, why, and what was the result.
· Use course concepts and terminology to demonstrate how you applied course concepts throughout the simulation.
· Use your weekly turn decision notes to explainyour decision-making process.
3. Target Market
Contains an analysis of segmentation, targeting and positioning showing how you chose your target market and how and why it evolved over time (if applicable).
· Include an analysis of your initial targeting strategy.
· Summarize your target market strategies and how and why they evolved over the course of the simulation.
4. Marketing Mix
Explains how you chose your initial product, price, place, and promotion, and how and why your mix developed over time. The chosen and adjusted marketing mix should show consistency in that all its components are integrated. Justification, rationale, elaboration, and explanation for marketing mix strategic choices are needed.
· Include the adjustments youmade during the game, why you made them, your expected outcomes, and the actual result.
· Contrast your initial marketing mix with your final one.
5. Competitive Analysis
Describes your competitive intelligence efforts and how they affected your strategies, tactics, and decisions regarding your target market and marketing mix.
· Indicate the impact that competitive intelligence had on your decision
· Indicate the type of competitive analysis you made (e.g., monitoring target segments, prices, anticipating strategies or tactics, mimicking prices and spending).
6. Lessons Learned
Contains insights into what you learned from the entire marketing simulation experience, the most challenging issues, and what helped you overcome these issues. The explanation should gobeyond narration/description to show understanding of the simulation, the market, and what caused the team’s weak and strong points; what went right, what went wrong, and why.Had you known then what you know now, explain how you would have approached the game in terms of your choice of target market and marketing mix.
· Highlight the key successes and key challenges faced.
· Highlight your learned lessons.
· Discuss what you could have done better.
· Indicate what your choice of target segments and marketing mix would be if you were to start a new game now.
Submission
Please make sure you download, fill, and submit the Template document, which you can find on Brightspace. The status report should be submitted on Brightspace no later than 6 April 2024 on or before midnight.
